Chester's Tip:

When you measure for an in-ground liner, one of the measurements is shallow wall height.  This is not necessarily the  same as shallow end depth. What you're looking for here is the average depth from the track to the bottom of the wall.  Sometimes this will vary, so take several measurements around the wall on the shallow end, and if they are not the same, use the average of the measurements.  You can't just use a string across the pool, and measure to the floor, because there is often a cove, some times little enough not to notice.  And inch off on a shallow wall height can be a problem. either way, especially with a 28 mil liner. An inch actually means two inches difference in material.  If the wall measurement is too short, a 28 mil liner will not go all the way to the floor, it will have a hollow behind it, which will eventually stretch down, causing unnecessary stress on the seam.  It is almost as bad to have too much liner, because wrinkles are likely to develop.  Most pools, at least here in Oklahoma, will get a little water under the liner from time to time.  If there is a frog strangler, this can be quite a bit, making the liner float.  If there is too much material in the liner, it won't go back in place.  If it is just a little water, and there is the proper amount of stretch on the liner, it may not move out of place in the first place.
