Chester's Tip:

When you change your above ground liner, make sure that you have the proper amount of cove at the bottom of the wall. To little, the liner will bend the top of the wall, or the track (or, in case of J-hung liners, come "un-hung").  Too much, and it will not have enough weight to stay in track.  There are prefabricated foam pieces that you can use, or you can build a base from packed, sifted dirt.  Sand is not a good idea, because it can wash out too easily  in the event of a leak.

The wall height on an above ground pool is measured from the top of the wall, to the bottom of the wall, not to the top of the top rail.  Typically, this will be an even number of inches - 30, 36, 42, 48, 52 or 54.

Likewise, the diameter of the pool is measured from wall to wall (the water line) regardless of the size of the top rail.  You neet to measure 3 different ways, like slicing a pie, because there are some pools that may be as much as 6" larger or smaller than their named dimension, and the pool may not necessarily have been installed perfectly round.  The average of these three measurements will give you the correct diameter.

Crazy Chester Sez:

My friend Buster has the worst luck.....

I went by one breezy day, and he had taken his new above ground pool liner out of the box and spread it out in the yard to let the sun warm it up.   When he went to install it, he discovered it had a terrible warranty defect.....

Evidently, the factory had put the pattern on the wrong side of the liner!   Not to mention that the bead was on upside down.........

Wouldn't stay in the track at all, 'til he duct taped it.......
